10 constables suspended

Nine constables and a head constable of the Kanchikacherla police station have been suspended for dereliction of their duties.

Nandigama circle inspector NB Murali Krishna said  42 persons were arrested for gambling in a raid conducted on a resort in Kanchikacherla mandal on June 21. While they were being produced in court at Nandigama, 14 of them managed to escape from the police custody.  Based on the a departmental inquiry report, Krishna district superintendent of police R Jayalakshmi issued an order suspending the 10 constables holding them responsible for the escape, the CI said.
