Rosaiah given Bezawada Gopala Reddy Award

"I feel honoured after being given the prestigious Bezawada Gopala Reddy award as that great personality had dedicated his life for the welfare of the state".

"He was a simple person with lofty ideas and a dynamic political personality. Such persons are rare in state politics, said Tamil Nadu governor K Rosaiah. Addressing the gathering after receiving the 'Bezawada Gopala Reddy Award' on Sunday, he recalled that Gopala Reddy was a gentleman politician, as he never felt ashamed of working as a minister in the Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy cabinet, though he had already served as the second chief minister of Andhra state. Recalling his association with Bezawada Gopala Reddy, Rosaiah said that despite not being a contemporary of Reddy in politics, he (Rosaiah) had followed his simplicity, which had helped him occupy higher positions in state politics. He urged younger politicians to follow the foot steps of Bezawada Gopala Reddy in the interests of the people of the state. While lauding the Bezawada Gopala Reddy Award committee for selecting Rosaiah for the award this time, finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy said that he too felt honoured for being given the opportunity to present the award to Rosaiah, as he was a simple and humble politician.

He said Rosaiah had great achievements to his name as he was the only minister in the state to present the state budget for a record 16 times as finance minister.
