Foreigners perform ‘Kode Mokkulu’

‘Kode Mokkulu’ (offering of ox to the god)  at Lord Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada is attracting a lot of pilgrims from abroad and other states.

Kode Mokkulu, is a unique ritual performed only at Sri Raja Rajeshwara temple. The devotees bring an ox,take it round the temple and tie it somewhere in the temple complex for good health and properity.

On Friday, Andrew and Christina, research scholars in zoology from USA, visited the temple and offered Kode Mokkulu.

The two foreign students said they came to Warangal on a study tour about 15 days ago. During their stay there they came to know about the significance of the temple and Kode Mokkulu from a B Tech student Ranjit. They said they were really thrilled going around the Siva temple holding the ox. They said that they have also learnt about the significance of other temples in the vicinity.

Pilgrims from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh also throng the temple.
