The headquarters building ofOrganization for Counter Terrorists Operations (OCTOPUS), theelite anti-terror commando unit of Andhra Pradesh Police, wastoday inaugurated by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy atBegumpet here.
The building, constructed at the cost of Rs five crore,has a state-of-the-art conference hall and communicationnetwork. The work was executed by the Andhra Pradesh StatePolice Housing Corporation Ltd.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the activities ofOCTOPUS and the construction work of Commando Training Centreat Ibrahimpatnam. Several issues pertaining to the policedepartment were discussed, an official release said.
He also saw the sophisticated firearms accessories andequipment used by the OCTOPUS commandos.
The commandos gave a demonstration of their skills in`House Intervention Hostage Rescue' and an Israeli combattechnique known as `Krav Maga' before the Chief Minister,state Home Minister P Sabita Indira Reddy, and DirectorGeneral of Police V Dinesh Reddy.
