VHR flays juxtaposition of Gandhi-Jagan picture

Taking exception to a YSR Congress Party leader in Guntur juxtaposing YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s picture with with Mahatma Gandhi’s s on a flexi banner, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao performed khseerabhishekam to the statue of the Father of the Nation in Secunderabad on Thursday.

The Rajya Sabha member hired a fire-tender for spraying water onto the  statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Later he had milk poured over the statue from four steel containers by a crane. Speaking with mediapersons later, Rao said it was outrageous to compare the Father of Nation with Jagan Mohan Reddy. “Can YSR Congress be called a party at all?” he asked and spat on the road contemptuously. Earlier, to make the room for Simon Snorkel, a fire-tender used to put out fire in high-rise buildings, the stone slabs on the pavement had to be removed and the area dug up. After the fire-tender was in place, Hanumantha Rao went up the ladder and performed ksheerabhishekam. Rao demanded police action against those who compared Mahatma Gandhi with Jaganmohan Reddy since it amounted to insulting the great personaltiy. He wondered why police could not act without a complaint even when the Father of the Nation was humiliated.
