Government’s wedding gift to disabled raised to Rs 50,000

Physically-challenged women would be provided financial assistance under the Stree Nidhi scheme meant to provide employment to self-help groups for which Rs 150 crore has been earmarked. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday announced several sops to  physically-challenged persons. He said the government would consider providing three percent reservation for them in promotions in government jobs. The amount given to those who married a physically-challenged person had been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. Providing Pensions to those with 40 percent or less disability would be considered.
