Couple burnt to death

In two separate incidents, four people were killed in Anantapur district on Wednesday. According to Peddapappur police, a couple Sanjeeva Reddy and Ramanjinamma who were operating money-lending business in Peddapappur mandal headquarters, were set on fire by unidentified persons on Tuesday night.

Suffering from serious burn injuries, the couple died undergoing treatment at Tadipatri government hospital. Police suspect financial disputes might have led to the murder of the couple.

Police have registered a case and investigation is on.

In another tragic accident, a truck ran over a home guard Yella Reddy and driver of a mini van. Gooty police said home guard Yella Reddy spotted two drivers talking to each other by stopping their vehicles in middle of the road. Reddy reached the place and started reprimanding the drivers, as one of the driver Mallikarjuna got down from the vehicle to explain to the home guard.

Meanwhile, another speeding truck ran over both the home guard and the driver. Passersby shifted them to the hospital.
