Giving strength to the argument of the Telangana leaders in the Congress that inordinate delay in granting statehood to region would only bring doom to the Congress in Telangana, a non-Congress UPA leader voiced his concern on the same at the UPA Coordination Committee meeting held in Delhi on Wednesday night.

Sources said that during the meeting a leader from UPA allies raised the Telangana issue much to the chagrin of the Congress high command.

He asked the Congress top brass to immediately find a solution to the contentious Telangana issue.

The leader also warned the Congress leadership that if the Telangana issue was not settled, the Congress had to face a difficult situation in the 2014 polls.

He said the indecisiveness of the Congress on state’s bifurcation would also have an impact on the electoral fortunes of the some of the UPA allies, which were facing similar issues in their states.
