It seems MBBS and BDS aspirants, have no other go, but to prepare for both NEET-UG 2013 and EAMCET 2012, if the attitude of the state government is any indication.
Though the case seeking exemption for the state from NEET-UG 2013 is still pending with the Supreme Court, the state government has decided that it is better, if they prepare the students to take NEET-UG.
Hence, the free advise - enrol and prepare for the exam. It is better to be prepared to write the exam, in case Supreme Court gives its verdict in favour of making NEET-UG mandatory from 2013 onwards, a higher official in the medical and health department said.
He said that if the verdict comes in the government’s favour it is good and if not, it is better to be prepared than getting disappointed later. “We have suggested the secondary education department to introduce a crash course consisting of the material of the syllabus, which is not there in the state syllabus,” he explained.
Same thing was more or less confirmed by the secondary education minister K Parthasarathi.
Speaking to mediapersons in Vijayawada, he said, special coaching to students will be given on Sundays and Mondays by the college management. The Intermediate board will take necessary steps to conduct these classes in December and January, he said.
The Intermediate examinations will be completed by March 20. The NEET exam will be held on May 5. There is a 40 percent variation in the syllabus of Botany and Zoology between state and CBSE syllabi.
The quota of seats belonging to the state will be given to our students only and there will be no loss due to NEET, the minister elaborated.
However, students are apprehensive as to how the short term additional coaching will better their prospects, if they are forced to take NEET-UG 2013.
