After deciding to hold an all-party meeting on the Telangana issue, the Congress seems to have jumped into the poll mode to outdo its rivals which are already on the battlefield conducting padayatras and mass-contact programmes.
A day after the Centre had decided to convene the meeting on Telangana, the PCC leadership took some quick decisions on the organisational matters of the party to rejuvenate its cadre which is in a dormant state after the humiliating drubbing at bypolls.
As per these decisions, the state Congress coordination committee will meet on Dec 15 under the leadership of party state affairs incharge Ghulam Nabi Azad. The meeting which is going to take place after several long months will formulate a strategy to gear up its rank and file for the general election in 2014. It was also decided that a brainstorming session be conducted with the party leaders on the following day, that is Dec 16.
The PCC leadership is also planning to hold a massive public meeting in Hyderabad, on the lines of the mega meeting held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi recently to publicise the government’s welfare schemes.
These slew of decisions were taken by the PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana after he met his party supremo Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Thursday.
After his meeting with the party boss, he met Azad.
Later in the evening, the two men travelled together to Hyderabad as Azad was to participate in a World Allergy Conference in the state capital.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Azad held closed door meetings with chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC chief, panchayat raj minister K Jana Reddy and former PCC president D Srinivas separately.
