Speculations rife as Andhra CM meets Sonia

A day ahead of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s birthday on Saturday, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and his deputy Damodara Rajanarasimha had hectic parleys with their party supremo and other AICC functionaries on state party affairs.

The duo’s lengthy meetings with the AICC supremo and other top leaders like finance minister P Chidambaram and state party affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad triggered various speculations. As these meetings took place in the light of Centre’s proposed all- party meet on the Telangana issue, Congress leaders in the state feel that the party top brass might have taken the views of Kiran Reddy and his deputy over the matter.

Kiran Reddy called on his party boss Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath and is understood to have briefed her about the current political situation in the state. Though it not clear what exactly transpired between them, leaders believe that the AICC supremo gave a patient hearing to the chief minister on the recent developments in AP like resurgence of Telangana movement, and the impact of the competitive padayatras being undertaken by the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and YSRC leader Sharmila in Telangana region.
