Appointment of new DCC chief draws ire of seniors

Minister Geeta Reddy sulks for not being consulted on the issue

The recent appointment of MLC Bhupal Reddy as the Medak district Congress Committee (DCC) chief is being resented by many seniors in the party.

The sulking leaders have reportedly expressed their disgruntlement to the Pradesh Congress Committee chief.

Former DCC chief Nandeeswar Goud, who has been  opposing the appointment of Bhupal Reddy, has voiced his displeasure to the PCC chief directly.

It is learnt that Nandee-swar Goud, belonging to a backward caste, has told the PCC chief that he was not happy with the appointment of Bhupal Reddy as he belonged to an upper caste. He reportedly told the PCC chief that he would have no objection if the post was given to another leader belonging to the backward community.

Meanwhile, there is criticism that the PCC chief and the chief minister had taken into consideration the opinion of deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha alone regarding appointment of the new DCC chief.

It is learnt that Narayan-khed MLA P Kishta Reddy and senior minister Geeta Reddy too met the PCC chief and expressed their resentment over Bhupal Reddy’s appointment as they were not consulted.

“The deputy chief minister made a ruckus soon as the chief minister’s Indiramma Baata tour schedule was announced. Even then Rajanarasimha is being given importance,” complained a senior leader in the party, who desired to remain anonymous.

“If people opposing the PCC chief and the chief minister are given importance in the party, all leaders will follow the same path,” he felt.

Oblivious of all these comments, Bhupal Reddy is involved in increasing amicability with all party leaders in the district and saving his post. Bhupal Reddy, who had met the PCC chief and the chief minister and thanked them, has met ministers belonging to the district and appealed to the them to cooperate with him.

However, it is learnt that he has not met former DCC chief Nandeeswar Goud. Bhupal Reddy tried to contact Goud on phone but the latter has not responded.
