Right time to squeeze Congress for Telangana: KCR

Stating that the Congress government in the state is on the verge of collapse, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday said this was the right time for Telangana leaders to pressurise the Congress to accord statehood to the Telangana region.

“If five MLAs from the Congress shift their loyalty to other parties, Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government will surely collapse,” the TRS supremo said at a public meeting at Parigi in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday.

Suspended TDP MLA K Harishwar Reddy joined the TRS at the meeting.

Addressing the huge crowd, Rao said, “The government at the Centre has become insensitive to the wishes of Telangana people.

In fact, it was the Congress which had forcibly merged the Telangana with Andhra. It had taken the lives of 400 Telangana youngsters during the 1969 agitation. People should teach a befitting lesson to the Congress, which does not believe in a democratic process.”

Shifting his attack towards the TDP and the YSRCP, the TRS chief said if it was TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu who had come in the way of formation of a Telangana state, it was YS Rajasekhara Reddy who had looted the water resources of Telangana by diverting them to Pothireddypadu head regulator for the irrigation needs of Kadapa district.

Both Naidu and Reddy had sold away the valuable lands in and around Hyderabad at a throwaway prices during their respective regimes, he alleged. He called upon the people of the region to teach a fitting lesson to the Congress, TDP and the YSRCP, the betrayers of the Telangana, in the next elections.

The TRS chief announced that a Vikarabad district would be formed after the creation of a Telangana state.

Promises 12-hr free power to farmers

Chandrasekhar Rao said his party would ensure supply of free power to farmers in the region for 12 hours daily in the event of formation of a Telangana state.

“We will have a pact with Chhattisgarh and get power from it to ensure supply of 12-hour free power,” Rao said.

He promised compulsory free education to all poor children “from KG to PG”. He appealed to the Muslims to join the Telangana agitation.

He promised 12 percent reservation for Muslims in jobs and education in separate Telangana.
