BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Saturday that the no matter when the next general election is held, the BJP-led NDA would come to power and one of its priority tasks would be to usher in judicial reforms including the constitution of a Judicial Commission with statutory powers.
Speaking at a state-level convention organised by the BJP’s legal and legislative cell, Prasad alleged that the Congress-led UPA government has compromised on national security and corruption, and this was a disconcerting trend that portended danger to the country.
The Rajya Sabha MP wanted to know why Prime Minister Manmohan Singh did not react in time to the 2G spectrum scam and why the CBI has failed to file a chargesheet against the accused in the Commonwealth Games scam.
BJP senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu demanded that the Centre establish a bench of the Supreme Court in the south. Similarly, High Court benches should be set up in other parts of the state.
The BJP leader said every day the UPA continued in power would only add to the travails of the people. “The BJP will surely come to power and the Congress will not cross double digits,” Naidu said. “The people will throw the UPA out lock stock and barrel.”
Referring to the MIM’s recent moves, Naidu said the minority party has become an anti-national party and urged BJP cadres to chase away MIM leaders when they begin touring the state as announced by them.
