Congress rule saw more ryot suicides than TD’s: Chandrababu

The Congress and its offshoot YSR Congress are against waiving the crop loans of farmers whereas for the Telugu Desam Party it will be the top priority and the first file to be signed once it is back in power, said TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

Addressing public in Siddapur village on the sixth day of his ‘Vastunna Meekosam’ padayatra in Medak district, Chandrababu wondered how a person who had never even been a sarpanch could know about ‘who will and how will crop loans be waived’.

It was his reaction to YSR Congress leaders YS Sharmila and YS Vijayamma’s poser to him as to how he expects to waive and whom will he ask  for it.

“When YSR came to power, he promised no farmer suicides would happen, but it is a fact that more farmer suicides had happened in the current Congress rule than during my regime,” Chandrababu maintained.

Pointing to the cotton fields, he said cotton farmers had become victims of nature’s fury, but the government was not even trying to save what is left. It failed to ensure MSP of Rs 3,700 per quintal for cotton, he added.

Alleging that the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues were neck deep in corruption, he called Kiran Kumar Reddy ‘Kiri Kiri Reddy’ and a ‘sealed cover’ chief minister, whom no one would listen. “Because of his inability, farmers, workers, students and all are made to suffer. He has even failed to implement his party chief Sonia Gandhi’s diktats and approved three extra cylinders only for Deepam scheme beneficiaries. Once back in power, we will provide 10 gas cylinders,” he said.
