The Sathya Sai Central Trust will be taking up a water supply project covering villages in Puttaparthi and Bukkapatnam mandals at an estimated cost of `75 crore and will construct 300 more houses for flood victims in Odisha.
The two projects were announced on the occasion of the 87th birth anniversary of Sathya Sai Baba on Friday.
Tripura Governor DY Patil, who participated in the birth anniversary celebrations at Sai Kulwanth Hall in Prasanthi Nilayam, underlined the role of education in achieving social and economic growth.
He recalled Sai Baba’s initiatives in the fields of education and health and the massive drinking water project in Rayalaseema.
Later, he released Sathya Sambhashanam, a book published by Shravan Kumar, an alumnus of Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning. The book contains Sai Baba’s messages in his own handwriting.
The annual reports of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Sathya Sai seva organisations and Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning were also released on the occasion.
Trust members Chakravarthy, Anil Kumar, Ratnakar Raju and others were present.
Later, speaking to mediapersons, trust member TKK Bhagawat said the trust will continue Sai Baba’s mission. All educational institutions and hospitals are running smoothly and organisational activities are going on as before, he added.
Responding to a query on allowing devotees into the Yajurveda Mandir and installing an idol of Sai Baba, he said the trust has not taken any decision so far.
