The YSR Congress Party received yet another jolt in Telangana with Puvvada Ajay Kumar from Khammam district resigning from the party and joining the Congress on Sunday.

Around 200 YSRC workers, including Ajay Kumar, joined the Congress in the presence of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at the latter’s camp office here. Congress spokesperson

Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the Congress was very strong in Khammam district and would emerge still stronger with the joining of Ajay Kumar. He said  good governance was possible only with the Congress in power and advised the YSRC workers who joined the Congress to remain in the Congress for ever.

Adilabad/Karimnagar: The YSR Congress was in for another jolt in the Telangana districts as two party central committee leaders and Telangana votaries-- former Adilabad MP A Indra Karan Reddy and Adi Srinivas from Karimnagar-- on Sunday resigned from their party membership over the anti-bifurcation stand of the party high-command.

The two leaders quit after YSRC chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi resigned from their legislator posts in support of Samikyandhra movement. Now, speculations are rife that Adi Srinivas would join the Congress.

Indira Karan Reddy, who sent his resignation letter to party honorary president Vijayalakshmi on Sunday, said that he was unhappy over the party’s ‘dubious’ stand on the state bifurcation issue. Meanwhile, the quitting of Adi Srinivas came as a jolt for the Karimnagar YSRC cadre as it plunged into a severe identity crisis in the district with only three second-rung leaders remaining.

In the recent past, district president Putta Madhu and senior leader KK Mahender Reddy also resigned in view of the Centre’s decision.

Srinivas, who made an official announcement in Vemulawada town here on Sunday, told the media that he was hurt.
