BDL to supply Invar missiles to Indian Army

Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL), a Miniratna category company under the department of defence production, said on Tuesday that it signed a contract with ministry of defence for supplying Invar anti-tank guided missiles worth Rs 3,000 crore to the Indian Army.

“The deliveries are expected to be  completed over the next five years. BDL has been manufacturing these missiles under technical collaboration with M/s  Rosoboronexport of Russia,” a BDL press release said.

Invar is a laser beam rider anti-tank guided missile, capable of being fired from T-90 tank. It has a range of 5 km. The missile can neutralize adversaries tanks fitted with explosive reactive armour protection.

The missile has has a semi-automatic control system and it can destroy stationary and moving targets with speeds up to 70 km/hr. Earlier, BDL embarked on production of second generation Milan-2.
