Despite the three-hour-long grilling by leaders of APNGOs, the Union ministers from Andhra and Rayalaseema are learnt to have decided against quitting their posts in support of United Andhra Pradesh.

A majority of them are looking towards chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who has projected himself as a staunch integrationist, to take the initiative to revolt against the AICC leadership to set an example to them.

Since the Union ministers think that any extreme step by them will only invite the wrath of their party high command, which is hell-bent on dividing the state, none of them is ready to resign from the Union cabinet as demanded by the non-gazetted government officers on Thursday.

It appears that they may defy their party leadership only after Kiran Reddy does so. Seemandhra Congress MLAs plan to stage a sit-in in Hyderabad on Sept 2 or 3 in support of Samaikyandhra.
