Rayala Telangana is a Congress Ploy to Avoid Statehood: Venkaiah Naidu

Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu alleged the Rayala Telangana proposal was a ploy of the Congress to stop the Telangana bill from reaching Parliament.

The Rayala Telangana proposal was a ploy of the Congress to stop the Telangana bill from reaching Parliament, senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu has alleged.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Venkaiah Naidu said, “The Congress has leaked the proposal so that the people of both the regions oppose it and the Telangana bill will not reach Parliament. As usual, the Congress wants to escape responsibility and make people suffer,” he said.

“No one has asked for Rayala Telangana. Still, the Congress is promoting it and creating confusion. People are demanding separate Telangana state and not Rayala Telangana state,” remarked.

Congress is dealing with state bifurcation as a party affair and taking one-sided decisions. The party is not able to bring consensus among its leaders, but expecting other parties to ‘cooperate’, he said.

The Congress is dividing the state for votes and seats and is not concerned about the welfare of the people.

“Let me make it clear that the BJP is for Telangana with 10 districts and Hyderabad as capital. Our stand is clear. Why should BJP change its stance for the sake of Congress? We are firm on our stance on Telangana.”

The proposal of Rayala Telangana is appearing in the media and officially the party has not received any communication in this regard. Whenever the proposal is sent to BJP, we will discuss it and take a decision.

On TDP-BJP alliance, he said as of now there is no proposal from either side and it was not discussed by the party. “BJP leaders meeting TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu does not mean alliance talks are going on,” he remarked.

On Article 370, the senior BJP leader said scrapping the Article would be in the interest of the country. “Article 370 is not good for the country as it has not brought the needed integration. In fact, it has created a feeling of separation and hence it should go,” he asserted.

He said there is no change in BJP’s stand on Article 370 and the party wants it to go.

“This Article is root cause of all the problem in Jammu and Kashmir. Keeping the unity and integrity of the country and national interests in mind, there is a need for a wider debate on the continuance of this Article on whether it is useful for the people of J&K or not. There is need to revisit this Article through a debate,” he said.
