Gitam Online Admission Tests from April 17-May 8

With a view to pave way for women empowerment, the GITAM University is charging only Rs 800 for woman candidates to apply for Gitam Admission Test (GAT)-2014, the all-India online admission test conducted by the varsity every year, as against Rs 1,000 payable by male candidates, its vice-chancellor G Subrahmanyam has said.

The GAT-2014 will be conducted from April 17 to May 8 at 32 centres for admission into technology and pharmacy programmes such as computer science, information technology, electronics and communication engineering, electronics and instrumentation engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, biotechnology, aeronautical engineering (Hyderabad only), BPharmacy, BArch and five-year Integrated dual degree ( BTech and MTech in ECE and BTech and MTech in mechanical), Subrahmanyam told newsmen here on Wednesday.

Candidates who scored state ranks in +2 (Intermediate) or equivalent exams through 46 boards across India are eligible for direct admission into engineering without appearing for GAT-2014. Merit scholarships will be offered on tuition fee for top-100 rankers of GAT-UGT-2014.

A minimum of 60 per cent aggregate marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry with first class or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination is the eligible criteria for BTech programmes, excluding biotechnology.

The eligibility criteria is minimum of 50 per cent marks in qualifying examination.

Interested candidates can apply online at www.gitam.edu or obtain application forms at various branches of Union Bank of India, Indian bank and Karur Vysya Bank.
