KCR, Kodandaram summoned by Vizag legal authority

The district legal services authority (DLSA) on Thursday issued summons to TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman M Kodandaram asking them to appear before it on February 15.

DLSA secretary and senior civil judge K Surya Rao issued the summons  on a petition filed by Areti Mahesh, president of Samaikyandhra Student Joint Action Committee. The petitioner said Chandrasekhar Rao and Kodandaram made derogatory remarks against former prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and prime minister Manmohan Singh _ at the Samara Deeksha held in Hyderabad recently. He  took strong exception to the derogatory remarks made against the national leaders and sought action against the accused under Sections 306 and 506 of IPC and also under the SC/ST Atrocities Act. The Telangana leaders were also charged with abetting suicides by youth and criminal intimidation.

There has been severe backlash from various organisations supporting the cause of united Andhra Pradesh to the statements made by Chandrasekhara Rao, Kodandaram and other Telangana leaders during the Samara Deeksha. Apart from lodging a complaint against them with the Three Town police station in the city, activists have staged protests across the city in the past couple of days demanding the arrest of the duo.
