33-year-old gang-raped, murdered in Vizianagaram

A 33-yearold woman is suspected to have been sexually assaulted and murdered by five unidentified persons while she was returning home at Chipurupalli in Vizianagaram district Wednesday night.

The incident came to light on Friday after her family members found the body in mango groves near Chipurupalli.

K Dilliswari, a resident of Chipurupalli, was returning home after visiting her parents at Tummeda village in Garividi mandal Wednesday night.

Accompanied by her aunt R Simhadramma, Dilliswari started off from her maternal house.

In a hurry to reach home early, the duo boarded a sharing autorickshaw without waiting for the RTC bus.

The autorickshaw was already crowded with five men, including the driver.

Simhadramma got down the vehicle on reaching Garividi flyover bridge enroute.

Later in the night, when Simhadramma telephoned the victim’s husband Ramu, she got to know that Dilliswari had not reached home.

Dilliswari’s family members then launched a search and found her body in the mango groves on Friday.

Following a complaint, Chipurupalli police registered a case and have reportedly nabbed the autorickshaw driver.

Police suspect that Dilliswari was kidnapped and taken to the mango groves, where she was gang-raped by her fellow passengers.

She was stabbed multiple times with sharp weapons. Her body was sent for postmortem and investigation is on.
