Rs 12 crore for yarn subsidy

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the finance department to release Rs 12 crore for weavers immediately towards subsidy of silk yarn. Around 1,000 basket makers called on Kiran Kumar Reddy here on Thursday.

He said that every weaver would get a subsidy of Rs 150 per kg silk yarn up to 400 kg, facilitating each family to get Rs 6,000 per month. About 43,000 weavers’ families would be benefited by it.

He said a separate federation would be constituted for the welfare of basket makers (Medaras) soon.
