A new flyover ramp connecting Upperpally to the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway was opened for traffic on Thursday.
The expressway from Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital to the Aramghar junction on NH-7, built by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), was opened in October 2009. As part of the same project, three sets of (total six) intermediate up and down ramps were also taken up. Of the six, three (up ramp at Laxminagar, down ramp near Hyderguda and up ramp at Aramgarh), were completed and made functional in Sep 2011. The pending down ramp at Aramghar would be completed in November this year. However, the down ramp at Laxminagar is held up as defence authorities have still to hand over land.No three-wheelers or bikes are allowed to ply on the expressway.
