Include Sharmila, Anil in illegal assets case: BJP

The BJP has stepped up the attack on YSR’s daughter Sharmila and son-in-law brother Anil, with party state spokesperson NVSS Prabhakar demanding that both of them give a proper reply to the people of the state on the corruption charges against them, during the on-going Maro Praja Prastanam padayatra.

Addressing a press conference at state party headquarters here Sunday, Prabhakar said the CBI should investigate the activities of Anil and Sharmila by including them in the YS Jagan assets case. Only then, all the facts will come out, he said.

The BJP will continue its legal and political fight against Anil and Sharmila, he said adding the two are working according to a two-point formula--loot the state and save the loot in secure places.

The late YS Rajasekhara Reddy had toured the state and identified lands which were later allocated to several companies in the name of SEZs. But not a single SEZ has come up. Now, Sharmila is following in the footsteps of her father, Prabhakar said.

When YSR was chief minister, Anil and Sharmila amassed huge properties across the state and also invested their ill-gotten wealth in 11 companies, he said.

“Before her father became chief minister, Sharmila submitted a declaration to the IT department that her assets were worth less than Rs 2 crore. How did she come to own several crores of rupees now? She should reveal the secret to the people,” the BJP leader said.

Brother Anil is running Rakshana TV channel by proxy after investing more than `100 crore in it to promote Christianity. “Sharmila claims humanity is their religion. If that is so, how come she married Anil only after he changed his religion and why her mother Vijayalakshmi carries Bible when she addresses public meetings?” Prabhakar asked. This is enough to expose their real face, he said and advised that their party be renamed YSR Christian Party.
