After three years, police filed a chargesheet in the case related to the assault on Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on the Osmania University campus by Telangana activists during separate statehood agitation.
The chargesheet was filed by the CID officials against 17 persons and the former car driver of Medak MP Nagaraju, was shown as the main accused. The other accused include some advocates and students.
In December 2009, when the separate statehood was at its peak on the OU campus, a delegation of Telangana TDP leaders including Nagam Janardhan Reddy went to the campus to participate in the agitation.
The students, who were demanding the resignation of elected representatives from the region, thrashed Nagam Janardhan Reddy. The vehicles of the TDP leaders were also damaged in the attack. The accused were charged under Sections 147, 148, 149, 355 and others.
