Andhra students reap rich haul of IIT ranks

Eamcet-2013 engineering topper Pallerla Saisandeep Reddy, son of a teacher, topped the JEE (Advanced) examination at all-India level in the open category by securing 332 marks. The all-India second, 7th and 8th ranks were also bagged by students from Andhra Pradesh- A Ravichandra, M Viswa Virinchi and S Leena Madhuri respectively.

Speaking to Express after topping the Eamcet on June 5, he said that he was not interested in joining any college in the state as he was expecting first or second rank in the Advanced.

Though some thought he was being over-confident, he lived up to the expectations. Soon after the results were announced on Friday, Reddy said he would join the prestigious IIT-Bombay in the Computer Science stream and further pursue post-graduation in robotic technology.

The second ranker, A Ravichandra from Hyderabad who got 9th rank in the state level engineering entrance test, said he drew inspiration from his elder brother Raghavendra, who is now pursuing his B-Tech (CSE) at IIT Madras. “My brother had scored 400th rank in the JEE and always wanted me to perform better which was realised today,” a delighted Ravichandra told Express.

Dreaming to pursue research in Algorithms after his graduation, Ravichandra too wants to join CSE stream in IIT Bombay.

M Viswa Virinchi from Hyderabad with a score of 315 secured the 7th rank and wants to join IIT Bombay in CSE or EEE stream.

The lone girl to figure in the top 10 from AP, S Leena Madhuri from Tirupati secured 8th rank with 314 marks and also stood first in the OBC category at all-India level. She too has set her sight on CSE or ECE in IIT Bombay.

The four are from the Sri Chaitanya Narayana Junior College which claimed to have got a total of  37 ranks in the top 100.
