'Protect old pensioners from heat'

In view of the prevailing hot weather, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed chief secretary PK Mohanty on Saturday to review the system of pension disbursement to the ages, widows and physically challenged persons. Reddy also asked Mohanty to instruct district collectors to arrange drinking water, provide shade for pensioners who visit offices and stand in queue in case of the failure of the online system. The chief minister’s instructions to the chief secretary followed the reported deaths of two old-age pensioners in the state due to severe heat. Very recently, an aged woman in Hyderabad, collapsed and died.
