Ex-MLA’s son among three held in kidnap case

The Vuyyur rural police on Monday arrested Vangaveeti Meghanath, son of former MLA Vangaveeti Chalapati Rao, and two others in connection with a kidnap case.

Gudavalli Ramachandra Sekhar of Vuyyur lodged a police complaint on Sunday  that Meghanath, his cousin Vangaveeti Vamsi Krishna and one K Venkata Naga Kurma Rao kidnapped one Komatineni Chandramouleswara Rao, a car driver working in Gudivada, and severely beat him for not repaying the loan of Rs 4.5 lakh.

Ramachandrasekhar said he had received a phone call from the kidnappers that they had abducted Mouleswara Rao for not repaying the loan and sought the help of the police.

The police registered cases  against the accused and they were remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
