Interim relief for AP staff

The State government is likely to sanction interim relief (IR) for the government employees very soon and the exercise for sanctioning it has commenced. Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will discuss with finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and other officials this week to finalise the quantum of relief to around 10 lakh employees.

A delegation of APNGOs headed by its president P Ashok Babu demanded 50 per cent IR till the implementation of the 10th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations.

APNGOs also urged the chief minister to regularise the services of contract employees working in various departments. The chief minister told the delegation that there were legal hurdles to regularise  contract employees as they had to take a written test.

The APNGOs wanted the chief minister not to refer the employees under Health Card scheme to government hospitals. Till the facilities at government hospitals were improved, the employees should be given an opportunity to visit private hospitals, they demanded.
