A day after Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao suggested that ministers from Telangana hold victory rallies across the region to spread the message that AICC supremo Sonia Gandhi had decided to accord statehood to Telangana, ministers and Congress leaders on Monday decided to organise Jaitra Yatra (victory march) across the region to thank Sonia and the UPA government.

The ministers, who meet at the residence of panchayat raj minister K Jana Reddy, decided to undertake the yatra from October 18 which would culminate in a massive public meeting in Hyderabad, probably on Dec 9, on the birth day of Sonia Gandhi.

Soon after the meeting, Jana Reddy, along with other ministers, addressed the media.

“The Jaitra Yatra, which will begin with a meeting at Bodhan in Nizambad district on Oct 18, is meant for thanking our party supremo Sonia Gandhi and vice- president Rahul Gandhi. We will also express our gratitude to prime minister Manmohan Singh as well AICC state affairs incharge Digvijaya Singh and former incharge Ghulam Nabi Azad,” he said.

Apart from deputy chief minister C Damodara Rajanarasimha, ministers Ponnala Lakshmaiah, D Sridhar Babu, B Saraiah, DK Aruna and V Sunita Lakshma Reddy took part in the meeting.
