Central collection centre set up for pilgrims' articles at Tirumala

To minimise the inconvenience to pilgrims in collecting their mobile phones, luggage and footwear deposited at various places, the TTD has opened a Common Collection Centre (CCC) for the people to retrieve all the three articles at a single place.

The CCC, which was started on Sunday on a trial basis, will be functional at the PAC-4 (Old Annaprasadam Building). Tirumala JEO K S Sreenivasa Raju, along with CVSO G V G Ashok Kumar inaugurated the CCC with four counters.

Speaking on the occasion, Raju said that at present there were over 10 cellphone, luggage, footwear- keeping counters at different places on Tirumala. After completing their darshan’, the pilgrims were facing problems in collecting the same.

“To minimise the woes of the pilgrims. the TTD has launched the CCC where the various articles deposited by the pilgrims at different counters at Tirumala will be brought to PAC 4 and delivered to the pilgrims,’’ he added.

Initially, the facility will be available at the four counters in PAC 4. The cell phones deposited in the counters near the `300 and `50 entry point - Supadham -- by the pilgrims will be delivered at the counter no 5 at PAC 4. Similarly, the pilgrims who deposit their articles at the counter near the ATC dispensary can get their  belongings at counter no 8 at PAC 4. Likewise, the articles deposited at the counter opposite the VQC 1 Vigilance Wing and the counter near the SMC generator will be returned to the pilgrims at counter Nos 9 and 10 respectively at PAC 4.

After observing the functioning of the delivery system for 15 days, the CCC would become fully functional, Raju said.

Addl CVSO Sivakumar Reddy, Deputy EO Chinnamgari Ramana, Health Officer Venkataramana and others were also present. Meanwhile, the TTD has also put into use a road cleaning machine that has been brought from Coimbatore.
