Jagan bail plea hearing on September 18

The special CBI court on Thursday adjourned the hearing on the bail plea of YSR Congress party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy to September 18.

Following a request from the CBI seeking  more time to file its counter affidavit on the bail application of Jagan, the court posted the matter for hearing to September 18.

Jagan had on Wednesday moved the special CBI court seeking bail on the ground that the four-month deadline set by the Supreme Court for completion of investigation by the CBI into the case against him ended on September 9.

In the bail plea Jagan had stated that in view of the ongoing agitation in Seemandhra over  bifurcation of the state, there was a need for him to be with the people and lead the agitation as a leader of a political party.

The CBI on September 10 had filed three more chargesheets against the Kadapa MP and others.

The Supreme Court had on May 9 rejected Jagan’s bail plea and directed the CBI to complete investigation and file chargesheet within four months.

The Kadapa MP was arrested by the CBI on May 27 last year on charges of  disproportionate assets and had been lodged in Chanchalguda Central Prison since then. He is in judicial remand till September 20.

CBI had earlier informed the court that it would file a final chargesheet within a few days.
