Accusing the state government of hurting the sentiments of majority community by its anti-Hindu policies, the state BJP has called for a halt to construction of an international Islamic university at Chandragiri near Tirumala Hills.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, party spokesman NVVS Prabhakar said the university was being established by a organisation, Heera Gold, founded by Nowhera Shaikh. As part of an international conspiracy to bring down the sanctity of the Tirumala Hills, the Islamic university was being established near the seven hills, he alleged.

The Congress government, whenever it got an opportunity, tried to hurt the sentiments of the Hindus and tried to create a rift between communities, he  alleged. It had been, for the last 10 years, adopting policies which were hurting the sentiments of the Hindus, he said and warned that if the state government did not stop  construction of the Islamic university, the BJP would launch an agitation and see that the construction was stopped.

The state government should also probe the activities of Nowhera Shaikh, the BJP leader demanded.
