Minister for secondary education K Parthasarathy said that a ‘collection of one crore signatures’ campaign would be launched in 13 Seeemandhra districts in support of U state.

Speaking to reporters after releasing the pamphlet of the campaign Wednesday, the minister said that the signature campaign would formally be launched on September 21 in the city with an aim to procure signature of one crore people in the 13 Seemandhra districts in favour of U state and they would be sent to President of India.

Along with the signatures, the phone numbers of the signatories would be collected, he said and added that it was a part of  anti-bifurcation movement by the Congress leaders.

Minister KP Sarathy also condemned the alleged ‘gherao’ of Union minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao Tuesday at Eluru by TDP MLA Ch Prabhakar and others.

Admitting that the administration to some extent was paralysed due to employees strike, he said that the supply of rice under PDS, fertilizers and other government activities were taking place as usual.

Stating that he was also taking part in the anti-bifurcation agitation by extending solidarity, he warned that anti-social elements were entering the movement.

He said that he has explained to the Antony committee the apprehension of the Polavaram Project to be constructed across the river Godavari and the fears of farmers in the regions, if the state is bifurcated. He, however, said that the resignations by the ministers or MPs would not help to keep the state united.
