Bhaskar is new APERC chairman

Retired IAS officer Venkataramani Bhaskar took over as the new chairman of Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission at a formal function, here on Thursday.

Retired IAS officer Venkataramani Bhaskar took over as the new chairman of Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission at a formal function, here on Thursday.

Bhaskar was administered oath of office and secrecy by chief secretary Prasanna Kumar Mohanty. Earlier in the day, Bhaskar took voluntary retirement from the post of special chief secretary (finance).

The 1981 batch officer, had served as collector of Anantapur and Visakhapatnam districts and later in the Union ministry of finance, before working for International Monetary Fund as advisor till 2003. Later, he worked as commissioner of commercial taxs and was instrumental in the introduction of VAT. In 2008, he joined the 13th Finance Commission as joint secretary, before joining the state Finace Department as principal secretary.
