Accusing the Congress of encouraging corruption, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu said that if voted to power he would order probe into all the encroached government and private lands in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
Addressing media persons after visiting the site demolished by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) illegally constructed by former mayor of Kadapa and maternal uncle of YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ravindranath Reddy, the TDP chief, while appreciating the courage of the land owner Neeraja Rao, alleged that during the last 10 years encroachment of government and private lands has increased fourfold in and around Hyderabad and crores of rupees worth of land has been encroached by anti-social elements and powerful politicians.
“The Congress government instead of checking encroachment of government lands was encouraging it. During the TDP rule people used to fear law and never used to encroach government lands,” he claimed.
Following the directions of the High Court, the GHMC on Monday took up demolition of a building of Ravindranath Reddy on Road No. 5, Jubilee Hills.
Accusing former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his family members of encouraging encroachments of lands, he said during YSR period maximum encroachment took place and his family members were benefited through illegal land dealings. “YSR family not only encroached government lands and properties but also private lands,” he alleged.
Jagan should explain how his maternal uncle Ravindranath Reddy, encroached land of a woman to the people of the state, he said. “The YSRC was encouraging and providing protection to goons, encroachers and land mafias,” he alleged.
Indirectly targeting Jagan, the TDP chief said the party which indulges in illegal activities should be de-recognised.
The petitioner Neeraja Rao explained the role played by YSR’s family in encroaching her land, alleged that YSR family used their clout and forged the land documents and encroached her land and after four years of legal battle she got justice.
“It was only in 2010 I had noticed that my property was grabbed by submitting forged documents. The property was transferred in the name of Ravindranath Reddy. My plot was under someone else’s name. The former additional commissioner K Dhanunjaya Reddy and former Hyderabad collector Navin Mittal have aided in the illegal act,” she alleged.
Neeraja Rao had bought this piece of land in the 1990s and the legal battle for ownership started in 2008.
In December 2008, she saw a lot of construction activity taking place on her land. It was only in 2010 she approached the court.
