True to Congress culture, former minister JC Diwakar Reddy and PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana had a verbal duel outside the chief minister’s office in the Assembly on Tuesday.
The two leaders, who do not see eye to eye, were seen shouting at each other at the top of their voices and a number of people rushed to them on hearing the quarrel.
Trouble started when Diwakar Reddy went near the chief minister’s office and on seeing Botcha Satyanaryana there asked him why he was looking at him so seriously. Saying that, he went close to him and pushed him in what appeared to be a friendly gesture.
But Botcha took offence to this and wanted to know why Diwakar Reddy was supporting rebels in the Rajya Sabha elections. “I have already told you to leave the party. Why are you still with us and wrecking the party from within?” Botcha asked.
Enraged over the outburst, Diwakar Reddy shouted Botcha down, saying that it was Botcha and not him who had mortgaged the party’s interests.
“It is you who is causing damage to the party. Though we have 26 surplus votes, you have made the party leadership field only three candidates. You have entered into an understanding with the TRS,” he said, and not stopping at that, asked Botcha to leave the party because his continuance any longer would only damage it further. Diwakar Reddy left the place fuming and muttering expletives under his breath.
