‘Under-Construction’ Krishna Dist Portal a White Elephant
VIJAYAWADA: Have you ever visited the official website of Krishna district? Well, you might find a colourful page with the list of departments on the left side of the screen. But click on one of them and you will end up on a page saying “Page is under construction.”
Lack of information on the district website on government schemes and projects of various departments is giving a tough time to the people of the district.
As per the National Informatics Centre guidelines, the district website must carry detailed information on the departments concerned and should be updated on a regular basis.
However, the Krishna district website pages are under construction for the past eight months, leaving the common man in a confusion. As a result, citizens do not have access to some of the key projects like National Rural Health Machine (NRHM) and Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan (SSA).
Interestingly, Express investigation revealed that most of the data, displayed in the website, is outdated. The website has no information on the departments of planning, health, education, urban development, rural development, engineering, infrastructure, ITDA, welfare, industries, mining, general administration, marketing, cooperation and agriculture. When asked about the lack of information in the existing website, district informatics officer PVS Sharma said that due to the state bifurcation, there was no proper communication channel among the departments and hence, the information could not be updated.
He also said that the delay was due to a proposal from the state government to launch a new web portal for all the districts which got delayed due to elections.
District collector M Raghunandan Rao said that the Andhra Pradesh Technologies was planning to set up a new web portal for Krishna district which would be launched in a month. “Once the new web portal is approved, all information will be updated,” he added.
