Speaking at the 117th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitaramaraju here Friday, the sub-collector recalled his revolutionary acts during the Rampa rebellion.

The celebrations were organised by the district administration as the state government had declared it a state festival. The celebrations started with patriotic songs rendered by the school students.

Hema Harsha Priya, one of the students, said that many students with poor economic background had been opting out of school as their parents were against spending money on their education.

She told the sub-collector that they could avoid such situations if the government and school managements work together. Harichandana welcomed the suggestion and ensured that she would always be available to resolve such issues.

B Ravi Teja’s mono-acting and B Sowmya’s singing were some of the attractions of the celebrations. Later, information officer of the state information commission, M Lakshmanacharyulu, conducted a quiz competition on important events in Alluri Sitaramaraju’s life.
