VISAKHAPATNAM:: To chalk out the future course of higher education system in Andhra Pradesh, a meeting of the vice-chancellors of all the 15 Universities in the state will be held under the chairmanship of Human Resource Development minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, at Andhra University here Saturday. This would be the first meeting of the V-Cs in Andhra Pradesh post-bifurcation. Issues relating to higher education, expansion of academic and research activities and other issues are learnt to be on the agenda.

Sources said that all the universities had been asked to submit a report on their future plans and requirements for expanding their academic. “The funding is going to be a major issue for all the universities and will be discussed. All the universities have been facing funds crunch, particularly due to shortage of funds from the state government,” said a V-C of a state university.

Srinivasa Rao told newsmen here Friday that the meeting was a part of the series of meetings to be convened with all stakeholders of the state education system. “We will also hold meetings with the university registrars, the regional joint directors, the district education officers and the headmasters apart from other stakeholders in phases for overhauling the entire education system,” the minister said.
