VIJAYAWADA: Health minister Kamineni Srinivas has urged the Telangana government not to create any problems for AP students in MDS admissions.

He has also criticised the Osmania Dental College officials for not allowing AP students to register for the courses offered during counselling.

Speaking to mediamen at BJP state office here Sunday after participating in Jan Sangh founder Syamaprasad Mukherjee’s birth anniversary celebrations, the minister said that according to Article 371(D) of the AP Bifurcation Act, AP students can join colleges in Telangana state.

It is said that Praveena Naik, an ST student from Osmania University region who stood first in her category, failed to get a seat while an ST student from AU region was offered a seat. Saying that justice should be done to Telangana students, the officials and students of OU region denied admission to AP students.

“It is unfortunate that an ST topper from the OU region could not get the seat. But the fact is that AP students have got their seats through counselling. Osmania Dental College officials should understand the situation and admit them,” said APJUDA Vijayawada president Kranti Kumar.

Meanwhile, due to a problem that has arisen at Osmania Dental College, the second and final counselling for MDS course scheduled to be held on July 7 and 8 has been postponed to July 10.

NTRUHS registrar S Babulal said that vice-chancellor T Ravi Raju will discuss with the officials of both Telangana and AP states in Hyderabad to settle the issue. BJP leader Kavuri Sambasiva Rao wants the administration to be shifted to AP immediately.

He urged CM Chandrababu Naidu to shift the Secretariat to AP immediately as AP leaders and employees were being completely neglected and humiliated in Hyderabad.

He said, “An amount of `100 crore is enough for building the Secretariat and if the government is committed that is not a problem.”
