‘Road Race’ on Beach Road a Big Success

As many as 2,500 students from various schools participated in a ‘Road Race’, conducted by the District Athletic Association on the Beach Road here Sunday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: As many as 2,500 students from various schools participated in a ‘Road Race’, conducted by the District Athletic Association on the Beach Road here Sunday.

Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar flagged off the run along with District Olympic Association president T Harsha Vardhan Prasad. Students participated enthusiastically in the run, which was held in six different categories for the age groups of 12, 14 and 16 years, from the Kali Matha temple to the INS Kursura Submarine museum.

Karunya Varma (12 years-boys), B Preethi (12 years-girls), Prasanth (14 years-boys), Angela Elsa John (14 years-girls),  T Rama Krishna (16 years-boys) and B Nikhila Manasa (16 years-girls) were declared as winners in their respective categories. Gold, silver and bronze medals and merit certificates were distributed among the participants.

GVMC zonal commissioner (zone III) Y Srinivasa Rao, Dredging Corporation of India general manager MS Rao, superintendent of Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax PV Ratnakar and circle inspector, Prohibition and Central Excise, S Vijaya Kumar were present.
