VIJAYAWADA: A 19-year-old youth, D Venkata Avinash, died Monday evening as a tree fell on the auto he was travelling in due to gales and rain. The incident occurred around 8 pm near Madhuranagar railway station on the Pasuputhota Road.
Another girl and the auto driver escaped unhurt. The auto was completely crushed under the tree. According to the police, Avinash died on the spot while the driver, Ravi, saved the girl.
The body of Avinash, who hailed from Peddanapeta in the city, has been shifted to the government hospital for post-mortem, said Satyanarayanapuram police.
