City Hospital Launches New Method to Treat Kidney Stones

Charitha Sri Hospital in the city has introduced a new method to treat kidney stones called ‘Dornier lithotripsy’, which enables the doctors to perform a painless and bloodless surgery.

VIJAYAWADA: Charitha Sri Hospital in the city has introduced a new method to treat kidney stones called ‘Dornier lithotripsy’, which enables the doctors to perform a painless and bloodless surgery.

Hospital chairman Koneru Vijaya Kumar told newsmen that Charitha Sri Hospital was the first to introduce this new medical equipment in the state. “This laser treatment can help us remove even the smallest stone present in the kidneys. We can also treat the prostate gland problem with laser, without any surgery,” the chairman said. He added that the patient can be discharged within a day after undergoing treatment, with the availability of the new equipment.

He announced that the hospital will conduct free consultancy for patients for a week from Saturday, as the hospital completed 15 years of service and that 20 per cent discounts will be offered. Vijaya Kumar also said that he would be donating `1,000 every day for the next five years to the CM relief fund for  construction of the new capital.
