Railway, NDRF Teams Conduct Mock Drill

With a view to alerting the railway safety staff, a mock train accident drill was organised at the Wagon Depot in association with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) here Friday.

VIJAYAWADA: With a view to alerting the railway safety staff, a mock train accident drill was organised at the Wagon Depot in association with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) here Friday.

The NDRF and railway personnel displayed amazing skills they rescued   the passengers who were ‘trapped’ inside the train whose coaches were in a state of disarray. The equipment and manpower played used in the exercise played a crucial role in the rescue operation. The mock drill was done to show the preparedness of the concerned staff and officers, especially during such accidents or calamities.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijayawada DRM Pradeep Kumar said that mock drills would help both railway and the NDRF teams to boost their self-confidence during such rescue and relief operations. Commandant of the 10th Battalion of NDRF, Mangalagiri, Prashant Dutt, lauded NDRF and Railway teams for their excellent performance.  Scouts and Guides as well as railway medical teams also took part.  NSR Prasad, ADRM, M Prasad, senior divisional safety officer, Vijayawada Division, and other branch officers were present.
