VISAKHAPATNAM: Heavy rains lashed parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and some isolated places in Rayalaseema  Saturday under the influence of a trough spread over Andhra Pradesh up to south Tamil Nadu. A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari and Krishna of Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.

Due to the trough coupled with the low pressure over north west Bay of Bengal, moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in north Coastal Andhra. A few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are expected to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers for another three days.

The officials at the Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam said that the low pressure formed over Bay of Bengal is likely to weaken shortly as it is closer to the land. Visakhapatnam received the highest amount of rainfall of 6 cm in the state. The officials have asked the fishermen to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
