Tenant Farmers Demand Credit, Compensation

VIJAYAWADA: The tenant farmers association(TFA) has requested chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, in a memorandum, to provide loan eligibility cards and extend credit facility and compensation for the tenant farmers who had suffered losses due to calamities.

The association said that 70 percent of land was being cultivated by tenant farmers in the state and even then the government was not issuing crops loans to them. As a result, they are forced to depend on money lenders in order to take up cultivation.  They urged the government to provide `10,000 as subsidy per acre.

They also asked the government to form monitoring committees at district and mandal levels in which farmers will responsible to monitor the implementation of the tenant farmers act.
