SRIKAKULAM: The police arrested three people and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh from them at Seven Roads Junction here Monday night. They are yet to recover another three tolas of gold jewellery from the accused, identified as Potnuru Harikrishna, S Rajakumar and M Vijayakumar.

Superintendent of police Navin Gulati told mediamen that the trio was involved in 22 theft cases and stole 59 tolas of gold ornaments from women at various places. They were arrested, on a tip-off, Monday night and would be produced before the court after interrogation. Harikrishna, an SSC pass-out, worked with a TV channel. But, his love for easy money and lavish lifestyle turned him into a thief. Rajakumar and Vijayakumar were his accomplices.

Trainee collector AK Singh, officer on special duty N Sridevi Rao  and CI Tata Rao were present.
